To formulate personal goals is difficult but very important to get where you want. Achieving goals is even harder.
Here are useful tips to consider when setting up your personal goals, why it is so important to formulate them and what to do to reach them.
What goals should I have?
1. Short-term goals, about 6-12 months away.
Goals commonly associated with your role or your area of responsibility, but at the same time will help you to reach your long-term goals.
2. Long-term goals, about 3-5 years away.
It may be the job or career that is challenging, inspiring and realistic.
3. Goals for development as a person.
Develop your abilities that are related to you as a person and your way of being, for example communication, cooperation, listening, the way you think about yourself, self-confidence. One question you can ask yourself to become more clear about what you need to develop is: "the ability, if I developed it further and was really really good at it, would make the most difference for me in my job / my career?"
